Developer Dontnod has this week announced that its award-winning game Life is Strange, will be launching on mobile devices this week. Providing iOS users access to the acclaimed game via both iPhone and iPad, offering all five episodes of the original tweaked and ready for touchscreen gameplay. The latest Life is Strange version also brings with it a handful of mobile exclusive features in the form of iMessage stickers and a handy in game photography mode. Meanwhile, Max must quickly learn that changing the past can sometimes lead to a devastating future.

Skype Qik Receives New Caption, Photo And Music Features

Skype Qik was launched by Microsoft back in October 2014 as a quick way to share video snippets, this week the company has rolled out a handful of new features that enable users to add captions, music and message photos.

In an attempt to compete with the likes of Snapchat, Skype Qik now enables users to easily add a caption to their video by simply selecting the new ‘Add Caption’ button provided in the latest update.

 

Microsoft has also added the ability to add music to videos as well as support for photographs allowing users to use the application and as a photo messaging service as well as a video messenger when desired.

Version 1.9.0 of Skype Qik is now available to download from the Apple iOS App Store for free via the link below.

A small team of former Amazon employees have created a new smartphone application called Mona, that has been designed to provide users with a personal shopper in their pocket or handbag.

Personal shopper apps are not a new market and a number of existing apps are already available that recommend new products or highlight popular trends. However Mona works on your behalf using what the company calls “Missions”

Missions are used by the Mona personal shopper app to track down those deals and promotions that have been set by its user, entering an array of criteria based on product, style price and more.

For example as searching for that elusive designer handbag, or alerting you when a special pair of shoes is available at a sale price. The company behind Mona was started last year by Orkun Atik who previously held a senior Product manager position at Amazon. The Mona website reads :

Start a Mission for your specific shopping goal and Mona will keep you up to date on exactly the things you’re looking for. She will continuously search and track items, specific to you and your unique goals.

iOS Google Maps App Enables Location Sharing Via Facebook And Messenger

Google has released a new update to its free iOS Google Maps application that brings with it a number of new features, tweaks and enhancements. Including the ability to now share your location or places via Facebook and Facebook Messenger.

The latest iOS Google Maps application takes the form of version 4.8.0 and also includes a redesigned and improved Transit directions for easier navigation whilst in cities.

The new transit directions provide more route choice and real-time arrival information where available making it easier for users to be able to plan their day and travel arrangements. The Amazon Fling SDK has been introduced by the e-commerce giant, as a cross-platform toolkit that will enable mobile developers to build applications capable of sending video, audio and images from Android and iOS devices to Amazon Fire TV hardware.

Providing an easy way for users to be able to view content from their mobile hardware on large screen TV displays using Amazon Fire TV. Similar in design to Google’s Chromecast technology, Amazon is now following suit with their newly released Amazon Fling SDK. Amazon explains a little more.

The SDK is flexible, open and provides a new way to get your app on Amazon Fire TV. You can easily convert existing casting app to fling content to Amazon Fire TV. The SDK is designed to simplify the process of dealing with underlying network discovery and communication technologies that connect apps to TV. The SDK offers a standardized way to communicate between your apps over a local network allowing you to focus on building new and unique user experiences.

When customers are using your app on the iOS, Android or Fire device, they’ll see the Amazon Fling icon appear in your app. They can touch the icon and then send your content to their Amazon Fire TV. You don’t need to explain how to fling your content. The entire experience happens within the app, making it intuitive for your customers. Customers can start the experience from mobile and then later control the playback with both your app and their Amazon Fire TV remote – whichever is most convenient.

Vine iOS App Update Adds Support For HD Videos

Vine has released a new update to its iOS users that brings a number of new features to the Vine mobile iOS service including a new list of suggested Viners that makes it easy to find more accounts to follow.

Together with the added ability to now upload and have your Vine posts in glorious high definition footage, enabling your followers to view your posts in HD as a new optional extra.

To enable the new HD Vine feature goto the Settings gear from your profile page, and then tap on “Your Content” upon which you will see the new option made available. Vine explains :

A new list of suggested Viners makes it easy to find more accounts to follow. Simply tap the Find People icon in the top left corner to see hand-picked suggestions If you want to find people you know on Vine, you can still connect to Twitter and your address book as well.

Later this week on Thursday, 16th July the new iOS game Warhammer 40K Deathwatch explodes onto Apple mobile devices around the world. Enabling those with iPad 4, iPad Mini 2, iPhone 5 or iPhone 5C running iOS 8.0 and above to play the new title.

The new Warhammer 40K Deathwatch game has been built by Warhammer Quest maker Rodeo Games and uses the Unreal Engine 4 games engine. Check out the teaser trailer below.

Within Warhammer 40K Deathwatch you to control a squad of Space Marines special operatives called Deathwatch and battle Tyranids in full 3D allowing you to view the action from all angles and rotate the battle when required.

Features include 40 campaign missions against the Tyranids, 2 – 4 player online battles, 40 unique Space Marines that can be equipped with over 200 Wargear items and 100’s of skills and abilities.

Deathwatch: Tyranid Invasion is a turn based strategy game, set on the edge of Imperial space, where your Space Marines will engage the Tyranids in a series of tactical engagements. From war ravaged cities, to the insides of Tyranid bio-ships, your mission will see your Kill Team rise in strength and skill as you face ever greater threats and peril.

Clad in black armour, the Deathwatch is an elite, secret order of Space Marines.
